Burst! is a motivational “two in one” workshop designed for women. The concept was conceived by Chiropractor, Dr. Blessyl Buan and Fitness Expert, Carmen Puyo who wanted to give women an opportunity to reconnect their mind and body to achieve empowerment

You cannot stay on the summit forever;
you have to come down again.
So why bother in the first place?
Because what is below does not know what is above,
but what is above knows what is below.
One climbs, one sees.
One descends, one sees no longer,
but one has seen.
There is an art of conducting oneself
in the lower regions
by the memory of what one saw higher up.
When one can no longer see,
one can at least still know.

Summit Day!!! Wow was it ever cold at the top I can’t believe that I did it….I must say that it was one of the most rewarding challenges I have ever done. I got very emotional at the end…which is to be expected and I cried for two hours straight going down. This whole trip has been flawless….I know now that I have the strength to do anything I put my mind to…I have learned so much on this mountain that I can bring with me off the mountain and somethings I can just leave on the mountain….Like Kombe says “What happens on the mountain….sometimes stays on the mountain”.

I’m tired…we did a total of 13 hours of hiking and I’m on no sleep…on to the next journey.

I made it to the last camp before summit. We are about 15,000 feet up and we have 4000 more to go. I’m feeling stronger than ever! I know that all my friends and family are praying for me….the power of prayer!!!!

People come into your life for certain reasons and I believe Eliakim and Kombe(my guides) were put into my life to push me toward my journey both up the mountain and in my own life. I have learned so much from these two men about life both on the mountain and off the mountain. The differences in culture when it comes to love and relationships. In the end, it’s pretty much the same we are all looking for our partner in life……

7:30pm

I’m in my tent….I should be sleeping because at 11:30pm I’m being woken up to have breakfast and then start the summit…YIKES! It is sooooooo cold! I’m going to do this! I was meant to do this….this whole trip has been such an amazing experience….I’m almost sad to see it come to an end…First I must make it to the top!

11:23pm

I probably slept for 20 minutes. My porter should be coming to my tent in the next 5 minutes to wake me up “Dada” that’s what he calls me….it means “sister” I think it’s cute. Little to his surprise I’m up. I’ve been tossing and turning since 8pm. I just want to get this done…Oh by the way IT’S FREEZING!!!!

Today is day four and one of the greatest days of my life…next to yesterday

We scaled up Borancco wall which is about 14000 feet and I had no fear just excitement. Just like life we shoudn’t fear it just live it and today showed me that life is a present from God.

My guide said something interesting to me today…he mention that who ever his wife is, she has to be exactly like the view we saw today. What he meant by that was…..on Kilimanjaro everything around a view changes i.e climate, cloud covering etc but the view is always there. In partnership the same thing happens…lives change but the love for one another should always be there. I believe that makes a true partnership….something I’ve always wanted and I know in my heart it will happen. Today every hill or valley I climbed up I received a present which was the view. Love is a present and I know in my heart I will receive that gift when I am ready.

2 more days till summit!!!!!

The scenery is amazing and just like life I wasn’t going to let it pass me by. I’m more concern about what’s around me then my pace…in the end I’m going to summit. Dinner tonight was so much fun! I’m getting along well with my crew and we all share the joy of laughter, which is so important in this climb….it makes it so much more fun! I almost forgot the best part of today…when I got to camp all the porters greeted me with a song and dance…what a great feeling I was so HAPPY!

Comparison of Kilimanjaro and Life:

Kilimanjaro- Don’t let the scenery pass you by  Life- Don’t let life pass you by

Kilimanjaro- Take your time and think of the summit Life- Take it day by day

Kilimanjaro- It’s important to make your crew your family and friends Life- Family and friendsare the most important things in life.

Kilimanjaro- Laughter will make the climb easier Life- Life is all about laughing and not taking it too serious

Kilimanjaro- Dance your way to the top Life- Dance as if nobody is watching.

The beauty of children…although I myself am not ready to have children of my own, today was such an eye opener on how precious life is. I was able to go to an orphanage today with babies who are affected by H.I.V. It was life changing to see these young babies who range from infants (as young as one month) to toddlers who have been left behind because either their mother died at birth or there family cannot take care of them because they have H.I.V. I looked at these adorable babies and thought to myself that at such a young age why do they have to suffer? I learned today that with the proper nutrition and care these babies can fight the disease and live longer as long as their immune system is strong. Touch is very important, these babies need to be held in order to survive. I believe that touch is so important but only when there is trust….I love hugging my friends and I love to cuddle with that person I am intimate with. Many people deny themselves of this feeling but after today I understand why it’s so important in life.

The energy of children is spectacular! I got a chance to play with the school kids at the campus I am staying at and to be honest I’M WIPED! I thought I had a lot of energy but these kids out numbered me and I totally met my match. It reminded me how keeping your youth is so important. This is why you should surround yourself with kids and feed off their energy. I never understood why people didn’t like kids…I’m guessing that they didn’t like themselves to much as a child.

An interesting thing happened today which showed me the difference between North American culture and African culture. A little girl about 4 years old came to me and said “Look at my muscles” and she flexed for me. I was so amazed and said “Wow they are big”. In the African culture women thrive on being strong and fit which is everything I teach. In North america women (I find) are more concerned about being skinny and having flat stomachs. I don’t think I have ever heard a little girl say to me “Look at my muscles” I found this interesting and it made me smile…..there is hope for our women of the future.                                      

I was the strongest I have ever been in my entire life both mentally and physically. It was so cold up there and I had not slept the night before. When I felt I couldn’t go any further I thought of why I was doing this and what a breast cancer survivor has to overcome and I knew in my heart I had to finish. When I got to the top I couldn’t forget about my tiara and boa…and yes folks….I did…..I brought my Tiara and boa to the top and I released my inner queen and diva!!!!
