Kilimanjaro
On March 13th at 6:20am I successfully climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro the highest in Africa to Uhuru Peak 5895m amsl. That was one of the best days of my life and I also the most rewarding challenge of my life.
I was the strongest I have ever been in my entire life both mentally and physically. It was so cold up there and I had not slept the night before. When I felt I couldn’t go any further I thought of why I was doing this and what a breast cancer survivor has to overcome and I knew in my heart I had to finish. When I got to the top I couldn’t forget about my tiara and boa…and yes folks….I did…..I brought my Tiara and boa to the top and I released my inner queen and diva!!!!
Thank you for all the positive energy. I felt it while I was up there.
Dr. Blessyl’s March Confidence Tip
“To Do” Lists don’t have to be your enemy
Dr. Blessyl Buan, DC
Now that I am on maternity leave, I have MORE to “To Do” lists than I did before….I didn’t think that it was truly possible. Being overwhelmed can really shoot down your sense of confidence and panic can set in.
One way to alleviate your stress is to write multiple lists. Realize that we do not live in a bubble free from life’s interruptions. Really long lists can be divided into four headings:
- What I absolutely must do today
- What I must do this week
- Short term goals (within the month)
- Long term goals (within the year and beyond)
By prioritizing your tasks, you will place value on what you’ve accomplished. So if you only ticked off 3 items out of 25, you will still feel productive.
And remember, you still have tomorrow.

Baby Bump Alert!
If you didn’t notice in the picture above, Dr. Blessyl is expecting her first child. She is due in April 2008.
Just “CAUSE” Carmen is turning 30!
Yes ladies…I am turning 30 on December 7th! I am so excited to move into my thirties. I am embracing it! Many of my friends have already turned thirty and were very scared of it. I can’t wait because I feel that I am getting better as I get older. I learned a lot about what I wanted in my 20′s. Now I’m going to learn how to get it in my 30′s!
In celebration of my 30th birthday I am hosting an event Just “CAUSE” Carmen is turning 30″. It’s a fundraising/Birthday party on Saturday December 8th at Peridot lounge in downtown Toronto. I mentioned in our blog that in March of 2008 I will be fullfilling my dream and will be going to Africa to climb Mount Kilimanjaro to raise money and awareness for the Canadian Breast Cancer foundation www.upkili.com. This is close and dear to my heart.
In November of 2006 my half sister passed away of this disease and this summer my best friend was diagnosed at the age of 29 and is currently locked in the battle to this disease. Both Dr. Blessyl and I will be organizing a fundraising event in February so please check your emails. For more information you can email us at info@burstnow.com.

Move 2008, Let the Dreams Begin Calendar
That time of year has come where everyone is preparing for the new year. This includes purchasing a calender for 2008 for oneself and as a gift.
Each month of the calender features a different sport or activity that one can incorporate into their lives for a healthy lifestyle. Each of the models are accomplished athletes that have competed from the community to world ranked levels.
Everyone who worked on this project graciously donated their time to pose, photograph and artistically design the calendar. All of the models were outfitted by Ice Gear fitness apparel.
Move 2008, Let the Dreams Begin…will be ready for sale Nov 9th, 2007 for $20 each.
All of the proceeds will go directly The Ontario Special Olympics
Message from Carmen:
“I ask you all to consider purchasing this calendar and help me on my quest to give a person with an intellectual disability the opportunity to experience and succeed in sport. These athletes gain self-confidence and transfer the success from the playing field to become more active citizens in society.”
If you would like to purchase a calendar (or more ) please let me know the quantity you would like to purchase.
“Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt.” Athletes Oath
Dr. Blessyl’s Confidence Tip
Confidence is a FEELING
Whenever you are in a situation that you don’t feel very confident, take the time to remember an instance where you did. Visualize your surroundings and the accomplishments that you achieved to make you experience this feeling.
Practising this daily will help you to tap into FEELING confident whenever you really need it. Job Interviews, new relationships, teaching a group are all scenarios that require confidence.
Start practising today!
Carmen’s Sexy Tip
December is one month away and it’s all about celebrating the festivities of the holidays so why don’t we use November as a month to celebrate ‘YOU’ the woman. We often forget about ourselves during the holiday months because after all it’s about giving…so let’s give it to ourselves this month. Before you go and buy gifts for your loved ones, buy yourself something nice and splurge. You deserve it!

Toasting Tips http://www.emilypost.com/everyday/tips_on_toasts.htm
1. The host goes first
Traditionally, the host or hostess offers the first toast. The more informal the occasion the less this tenet applies.
2. Rise to the occasion
The person delivering the toast stands (the exception: a small, informal occasion). Everyone else—include the person being toasted—remains seated, unless the toaster instructs everyone to do otherwise
3. The response
When toasted, the “toasteeu201D; does not stand, nor drink to herself. Once the toast is finished, she simply rises, bows her acknowledgement, and says thank you. She may also raise her own glass to propose a toast to the host and anyone else she wants to honor.
4. Prepare
Keep it short and to the point. You want the spotlight to stay on the toastee, not you. Tie what you say to the event that is being celebrated. Write out what you will say ahead of time and practice. Don’t let nerves bother you—speak clearly and with confidence.
5. Aim for sincerity over eloquence
Including a few personal remarks—a reminiscence, praise, or a relevant story or joke—is good, but keep with the emotion of the occasion.

Know Your Worth
I want to share a poem from my cousin Pamela it’s an awesome poem called “Know your worth”.
*KNOW WHAT YOU’RE WORTH…AND BE WILLING TO ACCEPT THAT PEOPLE DON’T ALWAYS HAVE TO LOVE YOU FOR THE RIGHT REASONS, FOR YOUR REASONS. KNOW THAT PEOPLE WON’T ALWAYS STAY FOR YOU. KNOW THAT PEOPLE LEAVE EVEN THOUGH THEY LOVE YOU. KNOW THAT THE WORLD IS NOT PROMISED TO YOU. KNOW THAT GOD LOVED YOU ENOUGH TO PUT YOU HERE, NOW YOU HAVE TO LOVE HIM ENOUGH TO STAY HERE. KNOW THAT THERE’S NOTHING AND NOONE WORTH DEPRECIATING YOUR VALUE FOR. KNOW WHEN TO LET GO, AND WHEN TO HOLD ON. KNOW THAT EVEN THOUGH IT MAY HURT NOW, YOU’VE FELT THIS WAY BEFORE AND GOT THROUGH IT, AND YOU WILL FEEL THIS WAY AGAIN, AND YOU WILL, STILL, GET THROUGH IT. “THIS TOO SHALL PASS” BELIEVE THAT. KNOW THAT PEOPLE HAVE THE CAPABILITY TO LIE, THEY’RE HUMAN. KNOW THAT FIRST IMPRESSIONS ARE SIMPLE DECEPTIONS, AND EVERYONE IS GUILTY OF IT. LOVE YOURSELF, LOVE YOUR LIFE, KNOW WHAT YOU’RE WORTH, AND DON’T LET ANYONE TELL YOU OTHERWISE. BE ORIGINAL, DON’T FALL INTO OTHER PEOPLES’ PROMISES AND DECISIONS. LIVE YOUR OWN LIFE, AND APPRECIATE THE PEOPLE THAT LOVE YOU FOR WHO YOU ARE, AND RID YOURSELF OF THE PEOPLE THAT CAN’T. KNOW THAT PEOPLE, THINGS, POLITICS, LANDS, AND DECISIONS…CHANGE. KNOW THAT’S NOT ANY FAULT OF YOURS. KNOW YOURSELF. KNOW WHO YOU ARE. KNOW WHAT YOU’RE WORTH. KNOW YOUR VALUE. KNOW YOUR SURROUNDINGS. KNOW WHAT YOU CAN, AND LEAVE THE REST FOR GOD TO SHOW YOU AND TELL YOU WHEN HE’S READY.
-P.A.

Confidence is your most valuable accessory. Practice good posture and you’ll always get what you want.
Carmen’s Sexy Tip All winter we’ve been covering ourselves in layers of Lululemon..haha! And wearing alot of dark colours. Get out of your comfort zone and brighten up the summer with vibrant colours and hot summer outfits. I find the more colours I wear the better I feel about myself. Pick a song that you love and “Dance like nobody is watching”. Before you get ready for a hot summer night, put on a nice bright summer outfit, blast your favourite song and Skip, Shimmy and Undulate in front of your mirror…you are guaranteed an awesome night!
